Johnston County school bus crashes into ditch off U.S. 301, school district says
A Johnston County public school bus crashed into a mud ditch Wednesday afternoon, but no students were on board at the time, a school district spokesperson said.
The bus, which serves North Johnston Middle School, was involved in an accident near the intersection of U.S. 301 and Pittman Road in the town of Micro, Johnston County Public Schools spokesperson Caitlin Furr told The News & Observer.
Furr said she did not know the driver’s condition. Officials did not provide the cause of the accident.
Aerial footage captured from a WRAL-TV helicopter showed the bus being pulled out of the mud ditch just before 4:30 p.m.
