Board names new principals

The Johnston County Board of Education on Tuesday shuffled its principal lineup, with the changes taking place July 1.

Clint Eaves is leaving Clayton High School to become principal of Johnston County’s Early College Academy, which is based at Johnston Community College. The school allows students to simultaneously earn a high school diploma and two-year associate’s degree. Brandon Garland is moving to the central office from the principal’s chair at Early College Academy.

Bennett Jones will take Eaves’ place at Clayton High. He is currently an assistant principal at South Johnston High School.

Elsewhere, Kirk Denning is leaving Princeton School to become the school system’s director of athletics. The current AD, Ray Stott, is leaving to become senior executive director of student services.

Jarvis Ellis, currently principal of North Johnston Middle, will take Denning’s place at Princeton. The board did not name Ellis’ successor at North Middle.
