1 person killed in crash that shut down I-85 in Orange County. Troopers investigating.
One person is dead after a crash that shut down Interstate 85 on Friday morning near Orange Grove Road in Hillsborough.
The N.C. State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, which happened at 5:40 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-85.
The crash shut down the interstate for about two hours, causing backups onto Interstate 40 and surrounding roads.
State troopers reopened the northbound lanes at 7:51 a.m., the Highway Patrol said in a news release.
The collision is still under investigation, and more details will be released as they become available, the release said.
