Morrisville park reopens after police investigate man’s death

Church Street Park in Morrisville reopened Friday afternoon after police investigated a man’s death at the park, officials said.

Pete Acosta, Morrisville’s interim police chief, told The News & Observer that officers responded to the park around 11:30 a.m. and found a man had died by suicide. Acosta said the body was reported to police by a witness at the park.

Police said about 30 people were at the park on Cricket Pitch Way when they responded.

The man who died was 66 years old.

Police said there was no suspicious activity surrounding the man’s death or threat to the public.
