Wake County’s website restored as hundreds scramble to make COVID test appointments

Wake County’s website was offline for most of the business day Tuesday, leaving some worried about getting tested for COVID-19 before Christmas.

“We’re experiencing technical difficulties with our website and are working hard to get it fixed ASAP,” Wake County tweeted. “We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience!”

The outage began around 9:30 a.m. with the website back online at 5:15 p.m., the county reported. The outage was caused by a software update, according to a Tuesday afternoon press release.

While not able to reach Wake County’s website directly, people could still sign up for a vaccine or COVID-19 test.
