Grandmother, child killed in Raleigh fire. Others face burns, smoke-related injuries
Two people were killed in an early Wednesday morning fire in Raleigh, officials said.
The fire occurred in the Walden Woods Condominiums on Grinding Stone Drive around 1:20 a.m.
Thirty-five Raleigh firefighters responded, according to a news release.
The accidental fire caused burn and smoke inhalation injuries and left two people dead.
Three people have been displaced, as 90% of the building was damaged in the fire.
ABC11, The News & Observer’s newsgathering partner, reported that the two people killed were a grandmother and her grandchild.
A mother and infant were rescued from a second floor balcony, along with another young child, according to the news outlet.
