I-40 reopens in southwest Raleigh after tractor-trailer crash

All lanes of Interstate 40 in southwest Raleigh have reopened after an early morning crash that backed up traffic for miles.

ABC11, The News & Observer’s media partner, reported that a tractor-trailer may have hit the median or hit a bridge, spilling trash in both directions and causing the miles-long backup.

The accident initially closed all lanes of I-40 East between Exit 293 at 1-440 and Exit 295 at Gorman Street.
