Police ID 2 killed in Raleigh collision that closed Louisburg Road at I-540
Two people were killed in a collision that shut down a major road in northeast Raleigh for several hours Friday morning, police said.
According a preliminary investigation, Rashon Jamaal Combs, 33, was traveling north at “a very high rate of speed” and ran a red light at the intersection of Louisburg Road (U.S. 401) and Midtown Market Avenue near Interstate 540 around 3:30 a.m, a news release stated.
Combs’ 2017 Hyundai Tuscon then hit the driver’s side door of a 2016 Acura TLX being driven by Trinidy Shehabb Amer, 22, who was turning left from Midtown Market Avenue onto southbound Louisburg Road, the release stated.
Both Combs and Amer died at the scene, police said.
