Police have identified a pedestrian killed in a collision with a vehicle Monday morning in Cary as 84-year-old Anthony Brancaccio of Cary.

Officers called to the intersection of Southwest Maynard Road and Kilmayne Drive at 7:30 a.m. found Brancaccio already dead. The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to a news release.

Brancaccio “was not using the crosswalk while crossing” Southwest Maynard Road at time of the crash, according to police.

Three lanes of Southwest Maynard Road that were closed during the investigation reopened at 11:40 a.m.., police said.

Police will not release the driver’s identity unless charges are filed, officials said. No charges had been filed as of Monday afternoon.
