Fuquay-Varina police are investigating after a woman was killed in a rollover crash early Sunday morning.

Officers were called to Judd Parkway Northwest between Coley Farm and Wilbon roads about 12:15 a.m., according to a news release from the town of Fuquay-Varina. First responders discovered a vehicle several feet off the road “that had sustained significant damage and appeared to have rolled multiple times,” the release said.

A woman in the backseat was apparently thrown out of the car during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release. Her identity had not been released as of Sunday morning.

The driver, a man, and a front passenger, a woman, were taken to the hospital for treatment, the release said.

An initial probe indicated the driver was speeding, then lost control and veered off the road, causing the vehicle to roll over “several times before coming to a stop,” according to the release.

The crash remained under investigation as of Sunday morning. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fuquay-Varina Police Department at 919-552-3191.
