Garner Salute to the Troops takes place Sunday

About a dozen World War II veterans will be among the vets honored during the third annual Garner Veterans Memorial Salute to the Troops on Sunday evening at Aversboro Road Baptist Church.

The free event begins at 6 p.m. and will feature a concert by the 2D Marine Aircraft Wing Band from Cherry Point as well as the presentation of gifts to veterans.

Following the concert, there will be a brief wreath-laying ceremony at the nearby Garner Veterans Memorial. The memorial was dedicated in May 2013, and the Salute to the Troops has been presented each May since by Show N Tell Ministries.
