Man’s body found at entrance of Fuquay-Varina subdivision

Police are investigating the death of a person whose body was found on the sidewalk at the entrance of a subdivision late Monday morning.

Police were called about an injured man shortly before 11 a.m. at the entrance of the Southern Oaks subdivision at the intersection of Sequoia Ridge Drive and Judd Parkway, said town spokeswoman Susan Weis. When officers arrived, they found Robert Eugene Owens, 46, dead near a stop sign, with a gun nearby.

Police are trying to determine if the death was the result of foul play or a suicide, Weis said.
