Man accused of sexually assaulting teen girl, using Google Translate to talk to her
Police say after a Zebulon man kidnapped and raped a 15-year-old girl while she was walking to her bus stop, he used Google Translate to communicate with her.
The teen told police that Victor Emandes-Ramirez, 33, came up behind her the morning of Jan. 9, grabbed her and forced her into his car, according to a search warrant application.
He allegedly forced her inside a shed behind a mobile home, where he forced her to perform sex acts, the warrant says. The teen says Emandes-Ramirez drove her to school afterward, according to the warrant.
He used Google Translate to communicate with her because he does not speak English, the warrant says. He told the teen she is pretty and asked her not to tell anyone what happened, according to the warrant.
But his Hyundai Sonata was identified using surveillance footage at the victim’s school, the warrant says.
He was arrested later that day. He is charged with first-degree kidnapping, statutory rape of a child and statutory sex offense with a child.
He is being held in Wake County Detention Center on a $1 million bond.
