Police name clerk in his 70s injured in Peace Street shootout near downtown Raleigh
A store clerk was shot late Tuesday afternoon during a robbery at a downtown Raleigh pawn shop.
Robert Siems, 71, was shot in his arm during the robbery. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, police said in a news release.
The incident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. at Golden Isles Rare Coins & Jewelry, at 200 W. Peace St., the release said.
Two suspects, at least one of them armed, entered the shop, police said.
A shootout between Siems and the suspects followed, police said. Siems was taken to WakeMed for treatment, police said.
Police did not know whether the suspects, who got away, also got shot.
