3 men, including accused Raleigh drug dealer, now charged in fatal January shooting
Police announced Monday they have now charged three people, including an accused Raleigh drug dealer, with murder in connection with a fatal shooting in January.
Jarvis Antonio Tucker, 32, Kenny Dockery, 27 and Kentezz Bailey, 31, are charged with killing Jameel Leon Barnes, 26, the Raleigh Police Department said in a news release.
Police found Barnes in the 2100 block of Nelson Street after responding to reports of shots fired Jan. 24. He died later that day.
Tucker, who lives on that block, has pending charges from September 2019 of manufacturing, selling, distributing or possessing controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school; possession of a firearm by a felon; and manufacturing cocaine, according to court records.
Tucker spent six months at Polk Correctional Institution in Butner for possession with intent to sell schedule II drugs in 2008. Schedule II drugs have a “high potential for abuse which may lead to severe psychological or physical dependence,” according to the U.S. Department of Justice. They include oxycodone, methadone, fentanyl, morphine and opium.
Dockery, has a Willow Spring, Johnston County address, according to some police records, and an Apex address, according to others.
He works as a landscaper, according to his LinkedIn profile. He was found guilty of possession of up to half an ounce of marijuana in 2015.
Bailey, who has addresses in Raleigh and Apex, was convicted of a domestic violence assault of a female in 2010, according to court records.
Bailey was charged with felony possession with intent to distribute marijuana in 2015, but pleaded guilty to misdemeanor possession.
There have been six homicides in Raleigh this year, all involving firearms.
Bailey, Tucker and Dockery are being held in the Wake County Detention Center without bail.
