Have you seen this truck? Chapel Hill police say someone tried to steal an ATM with it

Police are looking for a white truck involved in the attempted theft of an ATM at the Bank of America branch near University Place mall.

Officers responded to 851 Willow Drive shortly after 5:44 a.m. Sunday after the suspects detached the ATM with a chain attached to a pickup truck, according to a news release from the town.

The ATM was damaged, but no money was believed taken, the release stated.

The truck was stolen from a construction site on Dobbins Drive, according to the town.

Anyone who has seen a white work truck with “NYC, LLC Underground Construction” on the side and the license plate EZ7754, is asked to call 911 to report its location.

The investigation is ongoing.
