Teenage girl shot and killed in Apex

A teenage girl was fatally shot in Apex early Thursday morning, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Deputies responded to a reported shooting in the 3800 block of Copperhead Road. They found the 17-year-old on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds, according to a news release.

She was taken to WakeMed, where she died.

The Sheriff’s Office has not released the names of the girl or a “person of interest” in the case.

From 2008 to 2018, the Apex Police Department reported four homicides, according to Federal Bureau of Investigation crime statistics.
