Two people shot in Raleigh on Saturday are now homicide cases, police say

Raleigh police are investigating two weekend shootings as homicides after two people injured in separate incidents later died.
Martin Dexter Penny died from his injuries at WakeMed after police found him at 10:43 p.m. Saturday in the 1400 block of Beauty Avenue, the Raleigh Police Department stated in a news release.
William Stanton Kinney, 36, also died at the hospital after officers found him wounded on the Hammond Road exit ramp off Interstate 40 at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, according to another news release.
Police are investigating the shootings as homicides, the Police Department announced in news releases Sunday afternoon. The releases did not state whether the department had any suspects or provide any other information.
Man charged in shooting that injured four
The two fatal shootings Saturday followed police charging a man Friday in a shooting that injured four people last weekend..
Marleick Rashuan Jones, 22, faces four counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury in connection with a July 25 shooting in the 500 block of Bragg Street.
Officers found a woman suffering from gunshot wounds around 9:19 p.m. She was taken to WakeMed.
Later officers learned three men with gunshot wounds had gone to WakeMed after the same incident.
