Raleigh police have charged an 18-year-old man with murder after a shooting at a McDonald’s on Trawick Road on Sunday.

A 911 caller said the victim of a Sunday shooting was eating at a Raleigh McDonald’s when a man walked up and shot him.

Demetrice Dorell Johnson, 32, died at a hospital after the shooting at the restaurant on Trawick Road, police said in a Monday news release.

Jesus Alegre-Ramirez, 18, of Raleigh was arrested and charged with murder. He is being held in custody without bail, according to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office website.

The shooting, reported just before 6:30 p.m., was at least the sixth homicide in Raleigh this year.

‘Oh my god. He’s bleeding.’

A person buying food at the McDonald’s dialed 911 after witnessing the shooting, according to audio of the call obtained Tuesday by The News & Observer.

“I was right here buying,” they said. “And some guy came over here and he shot another customer while he was eating.”

The caller said they weren’t able to describe the shooter.

“I just saw them running off,” they told the operator.

After the shooting, Johnson was lying face-down on the floor and bleeding, according to the caller.

“Is he alive?” the caller asked another bystander. “Oh my god. He’s bleeding.”

In a statement reported Monday by ABC11, The N&O’s media partner, the restaurant owner said:

”We are saddened by this tragic circumstance. Our organization’s top priority is always the safety and well-being of our employees and customers. We are fully cooperating with the Raleigh Police Department and their investigation.”

The N&O will continue to update this story as more details become available.
