Durham police arrest woman in weekend shooting. One man reported dead
Durham police arrested a woman Monday they say fatally shot a man Friday evening in western Durham.
Police charged Brianna Bridges, 26, with murder in the death of 28-year-old Alvis J. Gentry of Durham.
Bridges was jailed without bail in the Durham County Detention Center, police said in an update Monday.
Officers responded to a call from the 1100 block of Morreene Road shortly before 6 p.m. and found a man who had been shot.
He was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries, police said.
Police said the shooting did not appear to be random. The case remains under investigation.

There were a total of 41 fatal shootings in Durham in 2022, compared to 44 in 2021 and 33 in 2020, according to online crime statistics provided by the city.
The fatal shootings reported in 2022 were out of 247 people reported shot. It’s a decrease from the 278 people reported to have been shot in Durham in 2021.
