Police release name of woman shot and killed near Duke Park in Durham

Police on Monday identified a woman fatally shot near a Durham neighborhood park as 41-year-old Shakida Laquan Rivers.

Police found Rivers suffering from a gunshot wound In the 100 block of West Knox Street by Duke Park just after 2 a.m. Friday.

A news release stated she was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police have not released information about what led to the shooting or a possible suspect.
