The Garner Police Department has charged a Garner woman and a Willow Spring man with murder in a shooting.
Patee Lachelle Bell, 27, and Howard Lee Covington, 30, are accused of killing 34-year-old Antwone Durell Chisholm, 34, police said.
Chisholm was found fatally shot around 2 p.m. Monday outside his home on Kentucky Drive near Benson Road, police said.
Bell, the fiancée of Chisholm, appeared in court on Wednesday and was denied bail. She was assigned a capital defender.
Covington made his first court appearance on Thursday afternoon where a judge ordered he also be held without bail and to have no contact with Bell. His next court appearance is set for June 1.
As of Thursday, police have not released a possible motive for the shooting and there are no known witnesses of the incident.
What we know about the shooting
Family members told ABC11, The News & Observer’s media partner, that Bell and Chisholm got engaged this past weekend during a vacation in Puerto Rico.
“He was just an overall kind-hearted guy, loved his family, very dedicated to his family,” Quincy Chisholm, Antwone’s first cousin, told ABC11.
Chisholm lived with Bell at the apartment on Kentucky Drive, according to Garner Police Capt. Christopher Adams, who declined to describe their relationship.
Chisholm was found on the lawn outside the home, WRAL reported. A 911 called reported hearing gunshots and seeing a body, Adams said.
Images from the scene captured by ABC11 showed a shattered glass door at the address of the shooting.
Chisholm’s mother mourned her son in a Facebook post saying her “heart is shattered.”
“Dance in Heaven, my angel. What am I gonna do?” she wrote.
