One man has died after an early morning double shooting in Durham, according to police.

Around 1 a.m. on June 1, two men were shot near the 2500 block of South Roxboro Street.

On Wednesday, police said Turahn Bey, 28, of Durham was killed in the shooting. Police have not given an update on the second man’s condition.

Police have not provided a motive for the shooting.

In a report to the Durham City Council last month, Police Chief Patrice Andrews said total violent crime — homicide, rape, aggravated assault — was down 11.4% during the first quarter of 2023 compared to the first three months of last year.

But homicides were up 27.3%, with 14 homicides during the first quarter.

With this shooting, at least 21 people have been killed in Durham this year.
