3 teens charged with murder after former college student killed in North Raleigh

Raleigh police have charged a third suspect in the killing of a recent college student fatally shot in North Raleigh earlier this month.

A 17-year-old was arrested and charged Monday with murder in the death of 22-year-old Isaiah Michael Anderson, Raleigh police said.

He’s the third to be charged in the shooting that happened on Nov. 9 around 5 p.m. in the 6000 block of Highline Street.

Kevin Lamar Bowser, 19, was charged with murder on Nov. 13. Ta’evon Andrew Wilkins, 18, was charged Nov. 15.

Police officers responded to a call for shots fired. There, they found Anderson with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said.

ABC11, The News & Observer’s newsgathering partner, reported the shooting occurred at the Northridge Crossings Apartments.

Anderson was a student last spring at Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU) in Charlotte.

“Any time we lose a member of our campus community, it’s always disheartening,” Davida L. Haywood, vice president for student affairs, told ABC11 in a statement. “Especially when you think about the value of life and the age of our students. The best way we can remember Isaiah for who he was and what he accomplished is by celebrating his life together.”

Anderson is survived by his parents, a brother and sister, and other relatives, according to an online obituary.

Bowser is being held in jail without bail and is due back in court Dec. 5, according to the news station.

Police are still investigating the shooting and provided no possible motive or other details.

They ask anyone who may have information to visit Crimestoppers at www.p3tips.com/89 for anonymous reporting options or call 919-996-1193.
