Woman injured fighting off attacker in Chapel Hill. Police are looking for the suspect.

Chapel Hill police are looking for a man who attacked a woman on Dec. 11, 2023, outside her home on Old Durham Road. The woman fought off the attack and is recovering from her injuries, police said.

Police are looking for a man who assaulted a woman outside her home Monday morning on the 5000 block of Old Durham Road.

The woman fought off her attacker, who ran away around 6:14 a.m., Chapel Hill police said in a news release.

The woman is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

They described the suspect as between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8, Black, with a black-and-gray beard and wearing baggy clothes, jeans and a beanie. They did not provide additional descriptive details such as approximate weight.

Anyone with information can call 911 or the Chapel Hill Police Department at 919-968-2760 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
