Pedestrian dies after apparent east Raleigh hit-and-run on Saturday evening

A pedestrian died after an apparent hit-and-run in East Raleigh on Saturday evening, according to police.

The Raleigh Police Department identified the pedestrian as Donna Faye Norman, 53 and said the crash happened at 6:57 p.m. in the 2000 block of Poole Road near Russ Street.

While crossing the road outside of a designated crosswalk, Norman was hit by a white, four-door pickup truck traveling southeast. Police said the car continued straight on Poole Road after the collision.

Norman died after being transported to the hospital.

Police on Sunday said they are still investigating the incident.
