1 person seriously injured in shooting at Cary gas station Thursday morning
The Cary Police Department is investigating a shooting at a gas station near downtown early Thursday morning that left one person with serious injuries.
At 5:56 a.m. police received reports of an altercation at the Exxon Refuel Gas Station at 1205 NE Maynard Road.
A man, whose name was not released, was found with a gunshot wound in his chest and was taken to a local hospital, a news release stated. The injury is serious, but he is expected to recover, the release stated.
The suspect turned himself in shortly after the shooting, police said..
Cary police respond to another gas station robbery
Before that shooting, Cary police responded to a robbery at another gas station in the western part of town.
Two people carrying firearms entered the Han-Dee Hugo’s gas station at 2703 NC 55 around 4:30 a.m.
The suspects stole snacks, cigarettes, other items, and $50 in cash, police said. One suspect shot into a display in the gas station during the robbery. They left the store in an unknown car.
No injuries were reported.
Police said the two gas station incidents were not related.
