Man charged with stabbing his father to death at Durham home

A Durham man was arrested Sunday after police say he fatally stabbed his father at his Durham home.

Ryan Mark Lord, 26, is charged with murder in the death of Kenneth Lord, 65, according to a news release.

Police were called to the 2600 block of Magnolia Tree Lane about 10:30 a.m. and found Kenneth Lord dead at the scene, the release said.

Authorities haven’t provided a possible motive or any other details on the killing.

As of March 1, there had been seven homicides in the city this year, compared to five in 2024 and 10 in 20223 by the same date, police statistics show.

Lord was being held in the Durham County jail without bail Monday.
