A Durham County sheriff’s deputy was arrested Wednesday on charges of solicitation of prostitution and patronizing a prostitute, according to a news release.

Derrick Sarand Neville, 48, of Durham is accused of having sex with an escort May 2, according to his arrest warrant.

He has worked as a Durham County deputy for 19 years, according to the Sheriff’s Office. He has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation, the release stated.

Neville was released on a $5,000 unsecured bail bond, according to court records. He has no prior criminal record, his release paperwork states.
