A restaurant employee pointed a gun at another worker inside a popular Raleigh eatery on Sunday, according to police.

The incident happened during the brunch rush at Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar on Oberlin Road in the Village District west of downtown.

No shots were fired, but the charge is “assault by pointing” a gun, the Raleigh Police Department told The News & Observer. Reports of a shooting were unfounded, police confirmed.

In North Carolina, assaulting by pointing a gun is a Class A1 misdemeanor.

Police also told N&O newsgathering partner ABC11 that two employees inside the restaurant were physically fighting in the kitchen area, and both were separated by other staff.

One of them then pulled out a gun, causing the other to run and hide in the parking deck behind the building, ABC11 reported, and sustained minor injuries from to the fight.

The employee who pointed the gun ran from the scene in an unknown direction, according to police.

Calls made by the N&O to the restaurant on July 20 are met with a recording that the business is closed for the rest of the day.

Police did not provide any additional information.
