Suspect in two Raleigh shootings arrested, charged with murder
Four days after a Monday morning shooting off Poole Road in Raleigh, a suspect has been arrested and charged with murder.
Demikael Brandon Cobb, 25, of Raleigh, is accused of killing 55-year-old Willis Hope, according to an arrest warrant.
Cobb is also the suspect in another Monday shooting on Coke Street, Raleigh police said in a statement. That victim suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries, Raleigh police told The News & Observer.
Hope died from his injuries Monday, police said.
Cobb has also been charged with the following, according to a police statement:
- Possession of firearm by felon (two counts)
- Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury
- Discharging a firearm within the city limits
- Going armed to the terror of the public
At the end of June — the city’s latest data on its website — there had been 17 homicides this year in Raleigh, compared to 16 by the same time last year.
