A Raleigh “Jeopardy” champion is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday on charges of secret peeping, court records show.

Philip Joseph “Joey” DeSena, 43, was arrested Dec. 1 on two charges of felony secret peeping, as first reported by CBS17.

He’s accused of installing cameras Oct. 10 in a Currituck County bedroom and bathroom to spy on someone, according to his arrest warrant. The charges were filed Nov. 26, and DeSena turned himself in the following week, court documents show.

The UNC graduate is a physicist and research and development engineer who most recently worked at a life-science company in Morrisville, his LinkedIn profile shows.

DeSena won two games of “Jeopardy” in November 2024, amassing almost $47,000 in earnings, and was also a semifinalist in the show’s Champions Wildcard series in January, according to a “Jeopardy” fanpage.

DeSena was released Dec. 3 on unsecured bail and ordered not to have any contact with the alleged victim. He’s set to appear in court Wednesday for a probable-cause hearing, court records show.
