15-year-old boy fatally shot in Southeast Raleigh neighborhood, police say
A juvenile suspect is in custody after a boy was fatally shot Friday in the Walnut Creek area, Raleigh Police said.
Officers responded to a shooting call in the 1400 block of Springshire Court at 11:50 a.m. Friday, police said in a news release.
They found a boy had been shot. He was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.
A juvenile suspect was in custody as of late Friday night, police said. They released no other information about the shooting.
ABC11, The News & Observer’s newsgathering partner, reported that the slain boy was 15.
His father told ABC11 the teen was his only child. He was not ready to speak on camera.
A neighbor told ABC11 he was in shock.
“Cayden got shot, and I said, oh,” Ozzie Abrams said. “At his own house ... at his own house.”
The investigation is ongoing.
