N.C. State University Police are investigating after a student said they were sexually assaulted on campus over the weekend.

Campus authorities said in a WolfAlert this weekend that a student reported the incident Saturday at the E.S. King Village apartments — university housing for non-freshmen and students with families. Police identified a suspect based on a description the individual provided, they said in the alert.

The suspect’s last known location was not on campus, campus police said.

The student described the suspect as a Black male between the ages of 31 and 35 who was 5’ to 5’6” tall and between 160 and 180 lbs., campus police said in the WolfAlert. The suspect was wearing a dark shirt with dark pants and had dark hair.

It’s unclear how the suspect got into the campus building.

University spokesperson Lauren Barker told The News & Observer on Monday that the suspect is not believed to be affiliated with the university. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, she said.

The assault is the campus’ second in the last two weeks. In April, university officials said a student had been sexually assaulted at Bragaw Hall, and campus authorities identified a suspect in the case. It’s unclear if an arrest has been made in the April incident.

“The safety and well-being of our community is always our highest priority,” Barker said. “We have an extensive network in place to ensure the safety and security of the campus community.”
