A WakeMed police officer is in custody after being charged with domestic violence.

Court records show Jeremy Lee Bohne, 39, of Wilson, was arrested Friday and faces eight charges, including:

  • Two counts of misdemeanor crimes of domestic violence
  • Two counts of assault on a female
  • One count of second-degree kidnapping
  • One count of assault by pointing a gun
  • One count of assault with a deadly weapon
  • One count of interfering with emergency communications

Bohne is accused of grabbing a woman by the arm and collar, using a box cutter to cut her clothes, pointing a long rifle at her and taking her cellphone to prevent her from calling 911, according to his arrest warrant.

WakeMed suspended Bohne immediately upon his arrest, WakeMed said in a Saturday afternoon statement to The News & Observer. The hospital is conducting an internal review and “cooperating fully with external investigations.”

“WakeMed has a long-standing, zero-tolerance policy in place for any threats or acts of violence,” WakeMed wrote. “We take any allegation of harm extremely seriously.”

Records from the state’s Justice Training and Certification Portal show Bohne has an active law enforcement officer certification with the WakeMed Police Department as of March 24. He has inactive ceritfications with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy sheriff and detention officer.

As is standard for defendants accused of domestic violence, Bohne is being held without bond in Wilson County until he appears before a district court judge Sunday afternoon, court records show.
