A teenager faces a murder charge after fatally shooting another teen in northwest Raleigh last week, police said Monday.

Raleigh police responded to a shooting in the 6100 block of St. Giles Street at 5 p.m. Friday and found a 15-year-old who had been shot. The teen was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died, police said in a news release.

Investigators took a 16-year-old suspect into custody following the incident,. The suspect was charged with murder and taken to a juvenile detention facility.

Police have not released a possible motive, said whether the teens knew each other or released any other information.
