Burlington man arrested for alleged child sex crimes in two Triangle counties
A Burlington man was arrested Friday in Chapel Hill on multiple charges of child sex crimes in Durham and Orange counties.
Saul Antonio Sosa, 64, of Burlington, faces three counts of felony indecent liberties with a child for an incident on Jan. 14, 2018, according to court documents filed in Orange County District Court.
But Durham County authorities had also been seeking Sosa for sex crimes they say he committed against two children on Feb. 15, 2019 — one of whom is identified in court records by the same initials as in the Orange County case.
Sosa now also faces two counts of felony statutory sex offense with a child and two counts of felony indecent liberties with a child for the February 2019 incident involving a child who was 6 year old at the time.
He also faces charges of felony statutory sex and felony indecent liberties for an incident on the same date with another child, who was then 9 years old, according to court records.
A warrant was issued for Sosa’s arrest in Orange County on July 6 and in the Durham County cases on Thursday. He was arrested by Chapel Hill police on Friday and is being held in Orange County custody, court documents show.
According to court records, Sosa is waiting for judges in both counties to set bail across all three cases on Wednesday.
