Police say they are searching for a 26-year-old man charged with two shootings, one fatal, that happened two days before Christmas.

Investigators have charged William Devoil Allen Jr. with murder for the Dec. 23 shooting death of 25-year-old Jakeba Henry on Commerce Street.

Police say Allen, 26, is also charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Emergency dispatchers alerted officers about a shooting at 6:17 p.m. near the intersection of Grace Lane and Liberty Street, where officers found a man who had been shot in the leg. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.

Shortly afterward, officers found Henry on Commerce Street with a gunshot wound. Paramedics rushed him to the hospital, where he died.

Investigators think the shooting victims were together when the shooting occurred on Commerce Street.

Police are urging anyone with information on Allen’s whereabouts to call 919-560-4440, ext. 29325, or CrimeStoppers at 919-683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers never have to identify themselves.
