Charges against a woman accused of shooting her father outside an apartment complex in 2016 were dismissed a year later, court records show.
Angel Nicole Bradford was originally charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, Cary officials said. That charge was later upgraded to involuntary manslaughter after her father died from his wounds.
The incident began on Lasky Court just after 8 a.m. March 19, 2016. A domestic argument between Bradford and her boyfriend moved from indoors to outdoors, officials said.
Bradford’s father, Christopher Layne Bradford Jr., arrived and was shot as the arguing continued. He was taken to WakeMed in Raleigh, where he was treated, but died in September 2016 from his wounds.
Angel Nicole Bradford barricaded herself inside the apartment with the gun for about an hour, and a crisis team intervened before she surrendered to police.
According to court records, the charge of involuntary manslaughter was dismissed Oct. 9, 2017, by the district attorney’s office.
