Man held on heroin charge faces new allegation from Raleigh police
Police on Tuesday tagged another heroin trafficking charge onto the record of a man they arrested Monday, accusing him this time of selling to an informant late last month.
Nathaniel Edward Lyons, 39, was being held in the Wake County Detention Center when he was served with an arrest warrant saying he had sold between 4 and 14 grams of heroin to a police informant on July 29.
Trafficking, a more serious felony than drug possession with intent to sell, is based on a person’s allegedly having at least 4 grams of heroin.
Monday, police had arrested Lyons at an apartment building at 803 S. Blount St., charging he had 39 grams of heroin there and charging him with trafficking.
Police have listed the apartment building as his address on arrest warrants, although booking records kept by the City County Bureau of Investigation list his address as 930 Laurel Breeze Drive in Knightdale.
The new charge added $1 million to Lyons’ bail, bringing it to $1,250,000.
