Calm down, kids – Wake County doesn’t have plans yet to cancel school because of snow
The snow sass has started.
Weather forecasters are predicting a slight chance of snow on Friday. And if you give a student a snow forecast, she’ll take to Twitter and ask for a day off school.
But as of now, students in Wake County have school Friday. (Read that again, kids.)
If – if! – the school schedule changes, the district will make an announcement on Twitter and school websites and through a phone call, text and email to parents, said spokeswoman Lisa Luten.
While ABC11 forecasters are predicting rain mixed with snow to fall across central North Carolina on Friday, they don’t expect any precipitation will stick to surfaces. The mix could turn into mostly snow Friday night into Saturday morning.
But students on Twitter have already started begging for time off.

Asking the district to cancel school for bad weather is a time-honored Twitter tradition among Wake County students. They whined about going to class during a cold snap in 2015 and pleaded for a cancellation during Hurricane Irma in September.
The district is known for its sassy responses – or, as the kids say, clapping back.

So far, the district has not mentioned the inclement weather situation on its Twitter account.
