Car hits Wake County school bus outside Dillard Drive Middle School

A car collided with a Wake County school bus with students on board at a Southwest Raleigh school Thursday afternoon.

The accident occurred just outside Dillard Drive Middle School. There were no serious injuries, according to a Raleigh Police Department watch commander.

All of the students on the bus were from Dillard Drive Middle School.

Police say the bus driver failed to yield.

There were three crashes involving Wake County school buses on Dillard Drive in 2019. Each involved a different driver.

In April, a bus driver was waiting to turn left. The bus was hit after it pulled out in front of an approaching car, causing $1,500 in damage to the car and $500 in damage to the bus.

In October, a bus backed into a car, causing $2,500 in damage to the car and $500 in damage to the bus.

In November, the view of a bus driver trying to turn left was obstructed by another bus. The bus driver kept going, not seeing a car, which collided with the front corner of the bus. The collision caused $10,000 in damage to the car and $5,000 in damage to the bus.

The bus and car involved in Thursday’s collision were towed from the scene.

The bus driver was cited for failing to yield.
