A student is facing disciplinary action after allegedly threatening a classmate with a knife on Tuesday, according to Garner police.

Garner police Captain Chris Adams said an 8-year-old threatened another student on a morning bus headed to East Garner Elementary School.

Adams said the child brought a switchblade knife onto the bus and communicated threats to one of the other children. Once the school was alerted to the threats, Adams said the knife was taken from the child without further incident.

At no time was East Garner Elementary placed on lockdown, according to Adams.

The child was returned to his parents and will be facing disciplinary charges through the Wake County Public School System.

Adams said no criminal charges are being pursued in this case.

Administrators from East Garner Elementary and Wake County Public Schools have not responded to calls from The N&O.
