Wisconsin cops pull over Wienermobile, relish opportunity to remind citizens of laws

The famous Oscar Meyer Wienermobile was spotted not obeying traffic laws in Wisconsin, and a post by the local sheriff’s office has garnered a lot of attention.

But it wasn’t the worst situation imaginable for the driver, as he or she was not ticketed, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office used the opportunity to grill drivers that if they see a vehicle on the side of the road with its emergency lights flashing, they are required by law to move out of the lane closest to the vehicle.

“One of the most dangerous places for emergency responders and maintenance personnel is along the side of the road,” the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department said. “Each year, hundreds of these hard working men and women are injured or killed by passing motorists while working along the nation’s highways.”

Facebook users couldn’t help but see the humor in the situation and several of the comments to the sheriff’s office were real wieners.

“Thanks for helping us Catsup on these laws; I really relish these kind of posts,” Scott Ehlke wrote.

“Did the driver just get a warning because he didn’t act like a brat after being pulled over,” Chris Curren said.

“Was he ‘Hot Doggin’ down the highway?? Jim Gradecki asked.

“FRANKLY, they deserved a ticket,” wrote Denise Kersky.
