Four kids took a snowmobile ride in Alaska. Then a blizzard stranded them, cops say
Four children, including a 2-year-old, were found after they went missing during a blizzard Sunday in Nunam Iqua, Alaska state troopers said.
The children went on a snowmobile ride and were supposed to return by 1 p.m., according to ABC News.
Emmonak Search and Rescue told KTUU the children were “cold, hungry, and tired” when they were found alive on Monday. They’re all being treated for severe hypothermia, state troopers said.
The kids — 2-year-old Trey Camille, 7-year-old Ethan Camille, 8-year-old Frank Johnson and 14-year-old Christopher Johnson — survived overnight by finding shelter, according to Fox News.
“It immediately brought me to tears,” Alphonso Thomas, Trey’s father, told KTUU. “I never would have thought that he would make it. Being two and with weather like that, people usually don’t make it ... tough kids, all of them.”
Alaska state troopers and the U.S. Coast Guard launched a search when the children didn’t return, but the blizzard “made the search difficult,” according to Fox News.
