Credit over cash? Your money could be spreading coronavirus, WHO warns
Using cash could spread coronavirus, the World Health Organization said.
People should wash their hands right after touching money because the virus that causes COVID-19 could stick to the cash for days, the WHO told The Telegraph. The agency said people should use “contactless technology” instead.
Flu viruses can survive on paper money for up to 17 days, according to Time.
COVID-19 has infected more than 94,000 people and killed more than 3,200, according to Johns Hopkins University.
The WHO has said the virus has a “very risk” risk of spreading.
The outbreak has killed 11 people and infected 149 across 13 states, according to CNN.
