First coronavirus vaccine up for trial in Seattle — and scientists need volunteers

A potential coronavirus vaccine is looking to start clinical trials in Seattle and is seeking volunteers to participate.

The study is looking for people between ages 18 and 55 who are in “good health,” according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine.

The vaccine, produced by Moderna, isn’t made from a killed or weakened virus and won’t infect anyone with coronavirus, according to King5.

Over 14 months, participants will make 11 visits to Seattle and have four phone conversations, the outlet reported. People will be injected with the vaccine twice during the trial.

After the vaccine has been tested, it must go through more trials with bigger groups before it’s approved for the public, according to Live Science.

Moderna first shipped the vaccine to researchers last month, The Wall Street Journal reported.
