Homeowner saws his neighbor’s garage in half in Maine neighborhood feud, photos show

A Maine man feuding with his neighbor cut off half her garage.

Dover-Foxcroft resident Gabriel Brawn posted photos of his work with a saw on social media with a no-apologies caption.

“Yes, this happened,” Brawn posted over the weekend on Facebook. “Those of you who know the ‘Other Guy’ will understand. If you’re offended by this, I care very little.”

A photo shows the string he apparently used to guide his saw.

Brawn, who is a construction worker, cleanly cut the building. Another photo shows the backside of the garage where he cut through the wall and siding material.

A third photo shows the debris piled in the neighbor’s exposed building.

There’s only one track for the garage door remaining after it was cut.

So, why did Brawn do it?

Brawn’s wife, Tracy Brawn, says he took a saw to the neighbor’s garage in a dispute over the property boundary line after the previous owner died and his wife took ownership, the Bangor Daily News reported.

“When the dad was alive this was a perfect place to live,” Brawn told the newspaper. “As soon as that poor man passed away this place turned to craziness and chaos.”

The property owner didn’t immediately respond Wednesday to a request for comment from McClatchy News. Her mailing address is at a property in a nearby town, records show.

After years of disagreement, two land surveyors confirmed the property line exists directly through the middle of the garage and the cutting began, the Bangor Daily News reported.

Dover-Foxcroft Police Chief Ryan Reardon says no criminal charges are filed in the property dispute, WABI reported.

”At least once a week there’s some kind of property dispute amongst the people,” Reardon told WABI. “This one is as extreme as I’ve ever seen.”

A new fence now stands along the property line, partially blocking the Brawns’ view of the garage.

Asked about the dispute, Brawn provided McClatchy with a short reply.

“Please pass along the message,” he said. “Don’t be a (jerk) to people.”
