All aboard! Train converted into home under Florida overpass lists for $305,000
Train enthusiasts — and die-hard NFL fans — rejoice: A unique “hidden gem” in the heart of downtown Jacksonville, Florida, has steamrolled its way onto the real estate market for $305,000.
A train that has been converted into an adorable, fully furnished two-bedroom, one-bathroom, livable home in a prime location near TIAA Bank Field, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars, is sure to attract a lot of attention.
Inside has all the amenities that can fit in a studio apartment including an office and sitting room, kitchen with a refrigerator and small appliances, storage closet and even four televisions. There is also a summer kitchen and outside deck that is sure to be a hit during tailgate season.
The home is the talk of the popular Facebook page Zillow Gone Wild whose fans are both intrigued and a bit confused by the 880-square-foot home.
“What in the Thomas and Percy am I looking at?” one person joked.
“I live in train, down by the river,” another said.
“This would be cute as a coffee shop. Can’t imagine living in it though,” one person observed.
“All that beautiful work on the inside, and no one thought about slapping some paint on the outside?” another asked.
Some people were concerned about the location of the home, which is in a gated area under the Hart Bridge Expressway.
“$305,000 to live under a highway overpass,” one person stated.
“It’s a pretty neat idea but the overpass seems like a deal breaker,” another said. “Also, there’s no way four people can comfortably sit at that bar.”
“Gives a whole new meaning to ending up living under a bridge,” one fan joked.
“Who would’ve thought living under an underpass in Jacksonville Florida would cost so much,” another stated.
“Almost makes living under the Hart Expressway Bridge almost worth it,” a fan said.
“305K to live under a bridge in Jacksonville!?! I can do that for free thank you very much!” another joked.
