It’s called ‘Black Beauty’ and among the coolest Airbnbs in Texas. Take a look
A unique vacation rental in the Austin suburb of Leander is one of the coolest Airbnbs in the country — at least according to Conde Nast Traveler.
The Geodome, nicknamed “Black Beauty,” is near Lake Travis in Texas Hill Country and is four levels of glorious architecture along with killer views all around. While it might look like a chic version of Darth Vader’s Death Star on the outside, the inside screams sophistication.
But it will cost a pretty penny — $670 a night. It can hold up to 14 guests.
“Kitschy as the 1970s kit-built exterior may look, this five-bedroom geodome is stuffed with modern amenities like soaking tubs and high-end appliances,” Conde Nast Traveler boasts.
“Mid-century modern furnishings and a smart art collection add the perfect finishing touch, while the wraparound deck and observation library tower capture 360 degrees of the surrounding treetops and beautiful Lake Travis.”
Features of the chill home include, according to the listing on Airbnb:
Observation tower
Full kitchen
Nespresso coffee machine
Two 55-inch smart TVs
Deck
Central air conditioning
A mascot called The Golden Owl
Peace and quiet
There’s also some little surprises as well.
“Throughout the entire house are fun design Easter eggs that will bring a smile to your face and make a great IG post,” the listing says.
The house has a 4.85 rating on Airbnb along with some pretty impressive reviews left by guests.
“Had a great stay at this beautiful, uniquely decorated property!” one guest said. “The pictures and description are accurate. Every floor is unique and fun to hang out. We had 10 people stay during Thanksgiving weekend and it was perfect. The observation deck is an amazing 360-degree view!”
“Exceptional!!” another gushed. “We had an amazing time for my husband’s 30th birthday! Fit 10 comfortably. All the furniture is so comfy! The decor is so pretty and trendy, made for great pics.”
“The Dome House is a very cool getaway spot and has lots of little touches that make it unique,” noted another.
The fun house has been no stranger to media attention and is often highlighted for being “one-of-a-kind” in terms of short-term vacation rentals.
The home is among some of the most interesting Airbnbs in Texas, even if it is a little new to the “cool” table. Others include a mining ruin loft house in Terlingua, a treehouse in Dallas, a tiny cabin in Dripping Springs, and so many more according to Trips Discover.
